Could someone please point me in the right direction regarding which vehicle the rear discs on a late 97 4.0 chimaera come from .They are the 273mm vented type marked up V899BB 2A 315 AA , thats the Ford No but their records say obsolete and they didn,t recognise the numbers from the chimaera pages. If I had a specific model then it would make the search a lot easier. Thanks for any help.

I recommend the excellent lookup guide at Brake Engineering. I think the info you're after is here.

Hope this helps.

Last time I checked Brake didn't sell direct, I went into their place on the Wrexham Industrial Estate asked a few questions and they gave me a trade voucher to take to Rollings in Wrexham.

Part no. is originally Sierra - but were probably used on Escort later.

AFAIK and acording to the Chimaera pages this is the disc from the Escort Cosworth 4x4 rear. I am currently pricing various sources. I am after some spiral grooved ones to match the Tower View Racing fronts (at a reasonable price).

Local motor factor has standard discs by Delphi at around £60 the pair and budget discs at £16 each!!

EBC - grooved and spotted - are about £140 pr.

Incidentally in have a pair of the latter on the front of the Vectra (with green stuff) and they are effective but quite noisy in anything other than light use. Mind you the TVRS fronts arent quiet either.

Looking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue most of the uprated discs are around the £140-190/pr range.

I replaced a wheel bearing on mine last year, when i looked into it the disc /hub assembly is from a sierra, i beleive it was an XR4x4 or XR4i anyway there were only a few sierra's running rear discs, I also think the sierra was around 1990 spec which would point to XR4x4 or Cossie maybe.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, I rang Brake Engineering yesterday and they told me they are off a 2litre Sierra cosworth and even advised me to go to Rollings in Wrexham as they would be cheaper from them, which they were at £52 a pair. which I thought was very good of them.
