Morning folks,

I need to register a domain and can't decide who to do it with...

I only need the name registering, as we have the site hosted ourselves.. (yes, I know there are arguments against this, many arguments in fact, but I can't get over that hurdle I'm afraid)... so, I need full control over the DNS, no hosting or email services or web forwarding or other such bobbins...

Jamie, do you offer this service?

Your advice please folks?

Cheers,

slinky

Yep.. go with register1.

Beware of some huge companies who charge like a dollar for a domain; they charge unbelieveable rates for everything else, like £60 just to move your domain from them.

I've been using them for years. Good prices and good service / features. Their control panel is particularly good with full DNS control and mail and web forwarding.

They've (relatively) recently been bought by Pipex though, so I'm keeping an eye on the costs / features. I've noticed extra features being added on an additional-cost basis, which doesn't bode well.

I've got quite a few .com domains still with http://joker.com who also have a good control panel, including unlimited subdomains (123-reg.co.uk charge for these) and spam-filtering on all mail including mail forwarding (which 123-reg.co.uk again charge for).

Their prices are still ok for .com but they don't do .uk

Joker are still 30% more expensive

With free DNS control, how can you not have unlimited subdomains with 123-reg?
Surely you just make the A records and you have your subdomains?

Um, I'm not sure. Maybe it's sub-domains integrated with web forwarding or something?
