I enjoyed the last survey. Here's another:
What's the highest powered (or performance) car you previously owned or presently own, prior to getting (or ordering) an Ultima?
I'll start.
I previously owned a 1996 LT4 Corvette, sold to start my GTR project. The Corvette did 12.38 @ 114 in the 1/4 mi. 170mph and had 450HP on the engine dyno.

Sierra Cosworth.
Heavily modified to a Real 330Bhp, had it 8yrs, done only a few trips down the quarter best of which was 13.3 @ 109mph. It'll hit the rev limiter in top gear which is about 160-165mph.
Upgraded it to 360Bhp last year and now the diff is a weak point, ULTIMAPAUL can confirm this!
For those in the US's benefit, the car is a 5 seater family car with a turbocharged 2 litre 4pot engine.

The Sierra and Sapphire Cossies were sold in US in various guises under those names during the period '85 to '92
Hutch
Last fun car was a heavilly modified Porsche 928S, tuning parts supplied courtesy of Devek 928 Specialists in the states. Original 4.7 litre engine replaced with a 6.o litre stroker, and it still revs (oops, it did till I killed it ) to 7k plus. Estimated output around 330 rear-wheel hp.
Unfortunately now its just a big waterpump which empties the coolant system outa the zorst in 3.4seconds head gasket gone and possibly cracked block the Ultima should be ready in about a month.

Not exactly, Hutch. Unfortunately, no Sapphires or Cossies were sold here in the US, though I've seen them in Europe. What they sold here instead was a Sierra that was called the Merkur--German Mercury, presumably--XR4Ti. It was sold from the fall of 1984, as an 85, model through 89 and had the turbo Pinto engine (2.3 4 cyl, SOHC) from the Mustang SVO. It was rated at 175 hp for the manual or 145 hp for the auto, a far cry from a real Cosworth Sierra or Sapphire.

Phew! Maybe I'm not such a after all!
Oh dear, I fall way back by these standards. Err, a Honda Accord Type R, a Merc E320 luxobarge, oh, and a Tiger Cat with a boggo standard 2.0l pinto putting out about 105bhp ...... still the car only weighed about 600kgs so it went quite well.
The Type R was fun when you revved it into the top part of the rev range. At about 5,800 the whole car changed charater and the engine headed for the rev limiter at about 8,000rpm with real enthusiasm. It sounded just like a touring car.

Audi RS4 with 450bhp mod, before that Impreza, Westfield etc. Had a full refund from Audi as had 16 new wheels in a year - bit of a fault I should say! Now my problem is where do I put the wife, 3 kids and dog in an Ult??? She thinks it's a family estate replacement and I haven't let on, albeit I think she is beginning to suss that the cockpit is a tad small! And... 450 bhp is easy with 4wd, esp, rds, pssc, rccd and all that other stuff, not with old fashioned rwd with tyres that convert to hydrofoils when wet! Perhaps the kids will rename it to Chitty Bang Bang afterall?

I had a couple of 911 Turbo's.....the 3.3 liter intercooled units making around 300hp but that was some time ago. I am currently preparing for my GTR by alternating between my 58hp VW Beetle and my 25hp(on a good day) Subaru Sambar! Seriously......I plan on going to driving school to get up to speed......pun intended.

Right now my Cobra is the fastest (top speed)car I've driven, but my Formula Continental is overall faster on the track being able to pull over 2 G's on turns. Even with padding on me and the car, I'm bruised from the frame tubes after a race in the FC.
I've had the Cobra over 165 mph at Pocona Speedway which is the only track around with a straight long enough to floor it that long. Even with front spoiler, dive planes, and adjustable rear wing, that was fast enough with that old body style.
I've done 12.1 in the 1/4 mile with Yokahoma 520 street tires, and a 2.73 rear end.
The Cobra feels like a Limo after the FC. I don't know what it has for final power, but the engine is a 5.0 Ford with all the goodies, E.F.I. and a Kenne Bell surpercharger tht is limited to 4 lb. boost. My class (SPA) allows any engine, but we have to use D.O.T. tires. (no slicks). I can stay with any big block on the staightaway, then I leave them on the bends.
The car has I.R.S., with Cobra R brakes, and we run Hoosier tires on dry days. 3.77 rear end and a Tremac 5 speed transmission is good for the short tracks in our area.
We've developed Winston Cup Type sway bars (interchangeable) for the Cobra which we now install on customers cars. We'll be installing a similar setup on the CanAm.
regards
Jack
