Insurance query
Discussion
Just had problems with my Meta alram on my 99 Griff 500. Looking at the threads, its not a new problem and is caused by water and or heat affecting the siren unit. This has now been removed from the car and continues to bleat on and off for half an our. The immobiliser and sensors still work, just, as my brother put it, doesn't annoy people when its been broken into.
My question is this:
by leaving the siren out am I likely to be invalidating the insurance. Most, mine included I think, specify a Thatcham class I immobiliser (?/alarm). Does the thatcham classification cover alarms or just immobilisation. I'm quite happy with the situation. has never been broken into and alarms going off does very little to stop it happenening. Don't wanna call the insurers only to tell me that its not insured and then have a problem with a potential claim. I realise am at potential risk at the moment, but I can't get it fixed anyway till the dealers open ?New Year and I've heard Meta parts are hard to come by. Don't wanna have to get a new alarm system. Any advice welcome. Cheers

The alarm is not functional and the car is not covered for theft if you read the small print so get it fixed ASAP. Yes Meta parts are hard to get and many of us junked it in favour of something that will have some after sales support from the manufacturer. I also got a boot release added to the blipper.
PCS in Milton Keynes if that is helpful.
