What a great product!! Does exactly what it says on the tin. Very hard finish and easily overpainted. Just one problem which has been mentioned on previous threads. Whatever you do, do not let it dry on your skin.!!! It will not, repeat,WILL NOT come off when dry. I have spent the last 4 days looking like an extra from the Al Jolson Story.....

Top product though

See my previous thread on this. Don't panic - this stuff WILL come off. All you need is one of those pot scourer things, the spongy things with the rough plastic on one side, or the plastic paint removal pads you can get at B&Q etc, the coarser the better. Bl**dy painful and you'll be very red when you're finished but it does work.

If its all over your head then you can just cut your hair. If you're bald, like me, then a combination of a razor (you'll probably need an assistant for this) and the method above can also work.

Probably best to avoid getting the stuff on your skin in the 1st place.

Great product though.

You are kidding? Not been mentioned! Everyone who has used it will tell you to keep it away from your skin

It is really great stuff though

What have you been painting?

So i though i knew better.. After all, nothing is un removable is it !!!!!!
I have just given the chassiss and suspension arms a rub down and paint.. Not a perfect job with time constraints but anything is better than nothing..Still took 8 hrs with electric drill and wire brush etc etc. I will post some pics if they are clear enough.....Steve.

It does say on the tin the only thing that will remove it is time.
Just being splattered all over the rear wishbones by Mr Venn.

Andrea,

Poped round to see Mr Venn yesterday, I tell you what those wishbones were well mucky, no doubt he will do you proud with a nice clean set of wishbones and fitted poly bushes!

When I left he was in the middle of etch priming some NEW upper ball joints, prior to painting them (I guess with POR), this is the sort of attention that folk give to their OWN car.

You have to take your hat off to him, he always has an eye for detail.

Hope that all is well with your car, my engine should be in next week, be nice to get her running again!

Steve.

Wishbones for P&A..... the ones that are now shot blasted, converted to Mk11 ARB cross brackets and prepared then painted with POR15 ...I went my Sign language classes with one black hand and one white hand...having got the smallest smudge on my hand through a hole in the rubber gloves that I had been wearing and tried to clean my hand with some standard thinners, hence, one black hand and NO amount of scrubbing would clean it...my mum used to say "it'll come out in the wash! NO IT DOES NOT!.

It will come off with the POR solvent, but that is very likely extremely nasty caustic cancer inducing stuff. I used it a few years ago to wipe some smudges off my face - it stung like b*ggery, and wire wool may actually have been easier on the complexion, but I am still alive, and it did come off pretty easily. It's not cheap though.

I presume you meant painting....You missed out on the ARB and the brackets that were blasted and painted this evening along with the chassis...having taken out the standard rear diff bush and replaced it with one of the "purple people versions" ALL's ready for going back together.....MORE duffnuts Steve!!!!

Mad Mitch - some silver POR on that exhaust wouldn't go amiss!

Victormeldrew.... the exhaust looks worse than it is... However, the car is not a show car and is used in all weathers. The chassis needed some protection, the exhaust doesn`t.. Im not into spending time and money on things that,in my opinion, are not required...There have been several very good re builds shown on these forums but unfortunately the amount of work, time and money to complete such a re furb are beyond me and most of tvr owners... i just wanted to show that with only a couple of days you can apply a fair bit of protection to the most at risk areas of the underside.

I wouldn't mind doing the same work, except I dont have an enormous indoor garage and hydraulic lift!!

It would all have to be done outdoors underneath some axle stands and that sounds really painful, cold and almost impossible.

Calm down! I wasn't suggesting you do a full strip and rebuild; just pointing out, in a light hearted way I thought (OK I should have used a rather than a !) that your exhaust looked a little rusty, and wasn't sure if you (or anyone else reading) knwe that POR can be used on exhaust sections like that to good effect. I'd rather spend a few quid on some POR than several hundred on a new exhaust when it rots through, personally, but its your choice of course. No need to be so touchy mate!
