After 6 months of deliberation, and fund raising, I have at last bought an Ultima GTR. Originally I was going to go down the road ala-Stig, and build one, but as luck would have it I managed to be in the right place at the right time and was given the chance to buy a factory made GTR at a reasonable cost.

I have thrown a web site together dedicated to the car, and will be adding info to it when "events" take place. You can see the car at

www.ultimasimon.0catch.com

Finally I would just like to say thankyou to everyone here for all your words of wisdom and advice which ultimately helped me to buy this car. I have met some fantastic new friends on this site. Thankyou once again CJ, Andy, Clive, Ken, Paul, Guy, etc and all that I have missed .

Le Mans, here we come ! Ultimasimon at last!

Great another Ultima west of London. What with Gman, Stig myself, Brian and others we are going to have loads of GTR's and CanAm's at the summer VW meets. You just reminded me to get Le MAns with the club sorted. I have not asked anybody to come with me yet so if anybody wants to fill the spare seat please let me know.

Cheers Guy, I don't know if I would make the club deadline as I am not yet a member. The car will be ready for Feb at latest, so I would defo like to go if there is a spare place.

Edited to say its a GTR - see link

Simon,

Looked on ya website, pics look good, but is that a normal Ultima dash, as looks good with all the ally surrounds. Can someone advise this is the normal dash?

I am going up to factory hopefully Saturday the 4th Jan to have a look and hopefully place an order to build one myself.

Anything to look out for in particular and what size engine is best suited to the Ultima for normal fast road use, as I have a mate who has a Diablo with 600bhp, but it is a beast to drive in the wet or damp conditions and will spin it`s rears in 3rd, and 4th if not careful.
It will not be my everyday car, so I want something with a bit of grunt but also reliability, please advise.
I will post later with a lot of questions I need answers to befre going up to the factory.
I did post of the Ultima Owners site, but it has not appeared, so I will try here.

Do you guys have many outings and spirited drive outs and pub lunches.

I have just sold my Lotus V8-GT and have a load of cash in my pocket burning a hole and since i saw the Ultimas up at Stoneleigh this year, I have fallen in love with them!!

Cheers

Great news!. This is not the standard dash offered by the factory. Some bits such as the rev, speedo water etc come from the factory but look like they have been modified. However, the dash is your decision. you can buy what the factory offers, go for Satck or anything else. If you want to see what the standard factory option looks like e-mail me and we can arrange to meet as i believe you are local.

Wow, congradulations! Uh..I guess I had never seen a GTR in metalic grey because that is one of the best looking Ultimas I have ever seen! You site has good links that usually take me awhile to find too. Can't wait for the driving tales.

Congrats Simon!

I've seen your car in the flesh and LOVE the colour. The dash is very TVR too!

Will be good to get together soon to check it out 1st hand.

Glad you didn't have to order the crane after all!!

Roll on the summer with better weather. It looks as if at least half a dozen more Ultimas' have been born over the last six months and still more to hit the streets in the summer.
