Hello!

Has anyone done a National B license test recently? I'm doing mine on Friday and was wondering whether its enough to just watch the MSA video in order to pass the written exams (or do I need to study some other sections from some books?)

It seemed to me that the only thing worth remembering from the video was the flags and to 'be safe'?!

Thanks,
Dylan

Hi, well all i can say is that i passed my exam with flying colours when i was 14! Thats how easy it is! Just make sure you know your flags and the rest is common sence really.

Good luck!

The test centers around saftey issues, so concetrate on that side of things..

you need to be 100% on flags they will either say what does this flag mean, or in this situation what flag would be waved..

A good one that catches people out is what flag can you start a race with...

the other questions are stuff like.... in this situation what should you do.

or "your on the start line what should you check about your fire ex"

a) its painted red
b) its in date
c) the pin is out

to be honest its mostly common sense...so watch the vid a few times, make sure you know the flags, read up on the saftey and driving standards bits and apply come common sense to the questions.

they usually sit you down and go through the vid before the exam again

edited to say

Good Luck & what are you intending to race

Thanks Michal and Graham!

That's what I thought but I had to ask anyway :-)

Anyone else got any other typical questions that 'catch people out'?

Cheers,
Dylan

I think when i did my exam ther was one question like:
Q.Where whould you park you car if you noticed it was on fire?

a)Opposite a grandstand full of people
b)Leave it in the middle of the track, away from the marshals
c)Next a barrel of fuel
d)The closest marshals post

Things may have changed since May 2004 but the questions are really simple!

Not too close, if you set fire to my bag of sandwiches, I will not be best pleased, though saying that, not too far away, as those extinguishers can be awkward at times!

incorrigible

As said before, learn the flags

Another great question I had on my test

You drop your crash helmet onto a concrete slab and notice that it's cracked

do you ....

a: replace it
b: repair it
c: sell it to a competitor

Really not that tricky

Far enough away from the marshalls post so they have to run lugging a heavy extinguiser( They do like the exercise), but not to far that they say sod it and take the marshmallows instead
