Cheers

We are leaving Le Man on the Monday and heading to Bordeaux (if thats how you spell it?) for a couple of days, then heading back to the north to catch the ferry from Boulogne on the Friday. Dont exactly know where we are staying yet so I had better pull my finger out and get it sorted.

Jon

the Sunday Times ran an article "Back from Le Mans, in 72 hours" last year re places to visit on the way back,
I'm sure if you search Le Mans in the Times Online travel section you will find it.

Le Mans (Sarthe)is in Loire region, which has some decent towns, Chateaux & vineyards..in no particular order
Angers
Saumur
Chinon
Tours
Chambord (spelling?)
Avoid Blois its awful. The michelin green guide on the Loire is v useful
Normandy is worth a look too, Honfleur v nice.

Hope that helps?

My 1st visit to Le Mans cant wait
Cheers
John

Our group always stop in Le Touquet for a night on our way back to the Tunnel, some good hotels and bars and a proper bed after camping for the previous 4-5 nights!!!

This year we are leaving on Sunday afternoon due members of the group having work commitments on the Tuesday.

Its become part of the Le Mans trip for us,get to the hotel after a really good drive back, sit outside drinking while everyone get showered etc out for a meal then drinking until the early hours.
Leave at midday for a 2pm tunnel crossing.

How about via Arromanches and the D-Day beaches, taking in the new Pegasus Bridge and Cafe Gondree in Benoueville

Stay anywhere around the beaches in any small hotel you find. It's VERY relaxing, goo dfood, cheap and stuff to see while fust walking around. One of the finest parts in Europe IMO.

3rd that, I went down and did the beaches for a couple of days last year, I think everybody should do it as it is a beautiful place and also a very stirring place.
