Have just tried to put some oil in my chim for the first time have checking the dip stick, (I bought it a few months ago and oil level has been fine). And the idiot before me has cross threaded the oil cap and it is ceased solid.

The car is due to go to V8 developments in a few weeks time for some tlc, so it can get fixed then (ps I am office an type so dont want to force the cap off and damage the thread further thus making it impossible to get cap back on).

Question is I would like to put some more oil in, it seems to be a little below the line on the dip stick. I was think of using a funnel and pouring through the dip stick hole as a makeshift solution until the pros can sort. Is this ok?

If you can get it in that way, it is fine. Just make sure you get it in there somehow and don't run it low on oil!

I don't think you could damage it if you really tried to get it off as if it's really stuck the filler neck will screw out of the rocker cover leaving a nice big hole to get your oil in. just top up and then screw neck back in maybe with PTFE?

don't blame me though if it turns into a disaster

Yes, just unscrew the whole filler neck.

I did it once with a big 100ml syringe which worked fine.

Not all cars have a filler neck.
On mine the cap just screwed straight into the rocker cover.

Yeah, my cap screws straight into the rocker cover.

What about the breather on the other side - the grey cylinder? That will screw out and you could top up through there.
