Had a Laser gun pointed at me today. Any Bell Euro 550 owners will be glad to hear it went crazy and hopefully gave me time to shed enough speed. Will tell you if I recieve a NIP.
Gladly I was doing no more than 45 in a 30 so points and a fine at worst. Whats the going rate for this?
Also anyone know how long it takes for plod to obatin a speed reading with the Laser gun?

Less than half a second to get a reading unfortunately, see www.lasertech.com/productline/ultraspec1.html
I have a laser jammer like that fitted and have left plod on the M180 scratching his bonce when he got 'error' displayed on his gun and I was hurtling down there at around 135. I quite fancy combining it with one of those moving signs that could say 'better luck next time you flat footed bacon munching arsehole. Go and catch the twat who burgled my house!'
Novel approach there sgirl - like it
. Most of the 30 traps are to improve safety rather than as a cash register (IMVHO). Same can't be said for those on NSL roads though
.
Wow Tyke, drove past a laser site at 135 and the guy with the camera didn't notice that you were going a bit quick. I think that looking back on other threads, you can be stopped on suspision and prosecuted for having a jammer - wouldn't make a habit of it therefore
.
Not my place to point this out, but going to anyway - the guy with the laser was upholding the law, and police policy - not making it!

My Bell Euro 550 didn't go off on Boxing Day when I approached one of North Wales Police's revenue collectors which caught me in 2001. Though he may have not bothered to press the trigger because he could see I was doing about 60 (NTL road). I hasten to add I was doing a far more comfortable 75 or so a mile either side of the laser van.
NIP arrived this morning, 36 in a 30, how harsh is that?
What really bugs me is that the piece of road is a dual carriageway with barriers either side to stop pedestrians. It's safe enough to be a 40 limit.
A definite case of revenue generation.
Thanks for the advice and comments.
I'll be buying a jammer soon...

Unfortunately it's this harsh -
ACPO Minimum for prosecution
=(Actual Speed)+(10%xSpeed)+2
i.e. in your case 30+3+2 = 35mph
I agree a bit harsh
