Overheating :(

Took the Cerb out for a blat today and my temperature guage went off the scale. Over 110, when I was sat at the lights. Couldn't here fans coming on either.

Got her home and I was right, no fans on at all.

If I unplug the temperature switch to break the circuit the fans run constantly as I would expect.
But does this tell me the switch is definately knackered?

Can I still use the Cerb this weekend leaving the fans on constantly? I don't want to miss the Mid-Essex meet again...

Sounds like it to me.

You could but it'll warm up like a dog and stall on you a bit.

Better than running in cold start mode all the time though.

It will be ok, It will just run on the thermostat.

could you not fit a temporary switch so you can turn the fans on when needed?

Hope yours is an easy fix! ... I had an old Peugeot 505 ages ago ... my mates laughed
cos I had an old flymo lead and connector that I used to swtch the fan on in that!

Geeze an now Im playing with TVRs ... wish it was all that simple!

Got to be the way to go, just a fly lead a rocker switch from Halfwits and a couple of spade connectors. Get an illuminated switch and you could even wire it so you know power's going to the circuit.

Isn't the fan switched by the ECU on the Cerbera? Or is that just on the S6 variants?

you're dead right peter .. whenever I do a remote fan switch on cerbies I use change over relays to isolate the ecu from the second power supply just to be safe. With an ecu costing 850 pounds you don't really want to be doing anything wrong

Thanks for the info on the phone today Joolz. Appreciate it. I'm interested in this manual override switch idea. Any chance of a diagram for the wiring? I can't picture how you'd use the relay. Email if you can!

Received temp sender today Joolz, as you promised.

Fitted it just now and the 1st fan didn't come on until an indicated 106 degrees, but at least they came on. I was starting to worry and yes, I know the ECU switches them on at 92 and 95 degrees.
