Can anyone tell me whether the 997 can have a child seat in the BACK? If so what is the minimum suitable age?

I went to Mothercare when my Mrs was expecting our little-one....the assistants were quite satsified with the fitment of various rear-facing seats in the back of my 996...so based upon that, I cant imagine a 997 wil have smaller rear seat, or that there'd be an issue, like ballcock said, just need to find the right one. (I did try one that had a telescopic footwell "leg" that extended from the back of the child seat onto the ground...cant remember whether this was mandatory or just a feature....)

Take a look on the Britax website. It has a listing of cars with isofix points, which are the brackets welded to the cars structure which the baby seat base clips on to. Its the isofix base that has the footwell strut. The baby seat then clips to the isofix base.
Its more expensive because of the base but what price do you put on safety?
Not sure whether Porsche use Isofix but alot of manufacturers do so worth a look. Haven't got a 996 or 997 unfortunately, but we use this on our VW Bora.

I didn't think rear facing seats work in a 996, I have a 5 month old and am awaiting her progression to foward facing before getting my 996 porker. There just isn't enough room in the back get a rear facing in there, my E46 3 series saloon can just fit one and it pushes the front passenger seat right forward.

Forward facing seats are a different ball game, plenty of options

yes they do, yes they do ... search

Just about all rear facing seats will fit in back although front passenger a bit squashed
