This *isn't* BiB-bashing ; the unfortunate victim is an ex-cop himself. It's yet more cretinous Political Correctness.

http://icnorthwales.icnetwork.co.uk/n

It's in the F**kwits Republic of Brunstromania of course. The poor s*d is charged with using the word "dyke" - like the "Pond Life" this was done in private (while attending the funeral of another officer).

Apparently the "remarks would cause a "reasonable person" harassment, alarm or distress". Well, that's just bollox ! It might cause a *complete loony* alarm or distress, but a reasonable person ?

Is "dyke" even offensive ? It appears not, as if you google it you get a stream of lesbian support sites !

What makes this even worse is that demented **** Brunstrom himself referred to "queers" in a Police staff meeting. But, surprise, surprise, they haven't prosecuted him.

It's truly mental. I was talking elsewhere to a retired copper. He'd started quite late so when he retired he was 60ish. Shortly before his retirement he was asked if he wanted to be the Gay/Bi Liaison Officer, to which he just said "no, thanks" (he wanted to be a proper copper I think).

They sent someone to investigate his attitudes - absolutely *barking* mad.

Wish I lived nearer so that I could attend Court and give evidence for the defence to say as a resonable person I am not harrassed, alarmed or distressed by such a remark.

Don't they have TV in Wales where that word has been used.

Perhaps they are a bit slow in Wales and thought he was referring to Offa and his dyke?

Can't a load of us volunteer to attend as witnesses for the defence and swamp the court? Would have to get there by public transport though, I'm damned if I'm driving in Wales!

Anyone remember Private Eye's 'Colemanballs' column? I think PH should start 'Brunstromcobblers' as a list of completely daft prosecutions.

As 'Citizens' of this loony Country, we are all just kicking our heels, waiting to be prosecuted for something or other, as we are all guilty (until proven guilty) of not being Tony Blair.

I can see, in due course, someone being arrested and charged with 'not being in posession of a current Criminal Record'...

Will the last person to leave this Country, please turn off the lights.

A friend of mine is a dyke and describes herself as such - hates the word "lesbian".

Is the statement "Is stupider even a word?" even a correct construct?

what gets me is that there is no mention of whether the lesbian was actually offended by the comment or whether his ex-colleagues just arrested him on the grounds that it might offend someone if were listening? (or did i miss something in the story).....

What scares me is, the other day I found out that the girl down the office is a lesbian. I said "crikey, she's too good-looking to be a lezzer" and I reckon under the new laws if she'd heard me I'd have been in trouble.

Which is precisely why Brentford FC Chairman Greg Lesbian changed his name....
