Z3M Coupe

My Dad may have finally decided to take the step of buying a Z3M Coupe. Not entirely sure if that's it's official name but its the Z3 with a roof. He's been toying with the idea for about, oh 10 years (rollseyes) but this time I'm assured he's going for it, despite my disbelief.

I have no idea where would be a good place to start looking for info, so thought I'd drop in here. At the moment I have no idea what sort of budget he has in mind. The most important thing is probably getting an idea of what to look out for and any problems that are common. Is the Vanos thingy as much of an issue as is banded around?

The breadvan is great IMHO. Apart from S50's with Vanos issues, not many major worries AFAIK.

BTW, are you THE Carlos Fandango? If so, please don't put any 'super wide arches' on the car and spoil it's beautiful lines

They are great cars. I've had a few problems with mine which have somewhat tarred the ownership experience but then it is a performance car so things do go wrong. The power, handling, sound and looks make up for this though and I honestly can't think of another car I'd replace it with.

I hadn't driven mine for nearly two weeks before this afternoon. Even now, 18 months into ownership I've never felt such a sense of occassion in a car I've purchased. These cars are very special, you can tell by the number of ex owners who still visit the forum.

Great car.. Change the oil every 3-5k miles, dont rev over 3000 till oil temp reaches 90deg, then you shouldnt have any vanos probs. I didnt anyway for two years 5 ring trips 15 trackdays and 40k miles!! memories..

Oh cool, some my videos come up on the side with the ghost rider video on google video. I've owned the M Coupe for over a year now and despite the little niggles would find it hard to part with. Its looks the part and it goes too. :-)
