hi, can you let me know the name of that place you can order number plates from to read exactly how you like,,is it silly plates? or funky plates?...just cant find them ...many thanks

They are excellent - really good web site that allows you to see what you design and quick service too.

You can even specify front sticker plates (vinyl rather than perspex) if it needs to stick on to body work (a la E-type..)

Looks good. Except ... So how come these folk don't need a V5, 2 types of ID, and your old man's inside leg meaurement? And how come the plates are mainly non street legal!? Otherwise OK then.

Spoke to a road traffic police officer about the plates supplied by fancy plates. The reason being they do not have identification marks on them etc. His comment was as long as the letters and numbers where the legal type he was not bothered what else was on the plate within reason.

They're in Northern Ireland - how / why the law differs from the rest of the UK regarding number plates I don't know!

But providing you have a legal font, the only differenece between a "legal" plate and the illegal ones are the British standard number written in small lettering in the corner of the plate. (same material is used wherever the plate is made) I put this number as a footer on my plates when I ordered them, therefore they are legal!

These plates are NOT illegal in as much as they don't have the suppliers post code stamped on them.

According to the DVLA the law regarding the supply of number plates only effects businesses in England and Wales. i.e. Scotland in addition to Ireland, falls into the exemption catagory as long as the supplier in question doesn't have any branches trading in England or Wales.

I don't believe they are illegal if you select the standard plates. The SUPPLY of plates is regulated in UK, not the display of said plates.

As long as the plates are machine readable and of standard font then they are OK by the police.

Not wanting to go into details, but for the safety of your car its better not to use non standard fonts.

What's that about then? Misspaced or wrong font number plates can attract a fine, but I don't think they attract points, however the DVLA can withdraw your right to use the number plate, so how does that effect the safety of your car?
