Gearbox removal

Read SteveD's comments in this post, although it refers to a G50, which helped me remove my box recently.

Some things that Steve recommended & I give the double thumbs up to are...
1: Have a longish but narrow piece of plywood/mdf under the gear box across the back 2 chassis members (the ones that go under the box!)
2: Have a trolley jack and suitable bit of 3by2 to spread the load on the sump, as the engine is partially supported by the gearbox, so you'll need to jack it up on the engine side, right next to the adapter plate to take the load off.
After I got the box out, I wiggled a bit of wood under the sump on top of the bent/angled down support strut that goes under it so I didn't have to leave the jack in place...
3: It's usefull to remove the mufflers, but you can leave the headers on...
4: Have a suitably muscled assistant to help lifting it out!
5: I used some stretchy cords (with the hooks at each end) to hold up the axles & gear shaft out of the way.
I'm not sure how the Renault box's release fork is secured, but I suspect it'll be similar to the G50... good luck!
