I have a device under the front passenger seat that looks like its for airbag deactivation. Its looks like its for a seatbelt? If that makes sense? But the seatbelt dont fit in it. I need to fit daughters, car - seat but not sure if this device is only suitable for porsche car seats?

Anyone use one of these devices? I tink they are also fitted to other models?

Thanks very much....

I think you're right, it is for deactivating the official Porsche baby seat when it is fitted. Don't know if it works with other makes.

If you have an official Porsche baby seat then it will have a piece of red webbing with what looks like a seat belt tongue on the end. This piece fits into the socket you described under the seat and deactivates the passenger airbag.

If you don't have a Porsche seat then you will need to go talk to you OPC about having the bag deactivated by other means. It will probably work out cheaper to buy the proper Porsche seat.

Thanks for that, can you not buy something to slot into it? Looks like a normal seatbelt holder but tried that and they don't fit..

Not wanting to scaremonger, but what if your home made solution vibrates loose or drops out. Then suddeny your airbag is active with your sprog in the seat. It's a very low probability coupled with the chances of an actual crash and deployment, but very severe implcations if it does oocur.

Hi there

We had the same dilemma - I haven't driven our 911 in ages due to my little boy and no means of de-activating airbags without purchase of Porsche Child Seat. Don't know how you feel about buying second hand, but they do come up on ebay - have just bought one - much cheaper than the £429 i was quoted by my local dealership and hopefully (i'm awaiting delivery) more reliable/reasurring than the credit card trick.

Surely you can buy just the metal clip to slot into the activation unit ? DOes britax or someone not sell them?

sja,

I doubt very much that you will legitimately be able to buy the metal tongue on its own. The whole point of the system is that the tongue comes attached to the child seat. This way when the child seat comes out so does the tongue and your airbag is active again for any full sized passengers.

Good luck.

I have now used my credit card solution as a template for a metal clip and it also seems to work fine. There is no way porsche will sell you just the clip, its the only way they can make you buy a £500 baby seat which normally retails for £100.
