Idle Speed

Before you all flame me the search forum thingy isnt working.

Seem to have a high idle once engine has warmed up.
Revs seem to stay around 1100-1300 when left to idle obviously makes for stop starting in traffic a pain in the a**e.
If left for 30 secs revs do drop back to normal around the 950 mark.
Have checked around engine bay for anything loose etc and CLEANED STEPPER MOTOR which was pretty coked up but problem still persists.
Any ideas guys..

Maybe the road speed sensor playing up? It should only fast-idle when you are using engine braking.

Thanks for quick reply. Revs start to drop after about 20 secs and then settle at 'normal' speed.
Did notice this morning tho while checking round vehicle before setting off that the revs increased all on their own for about 10 secs and I wasn't even in the car....! Engine was up to normal temp too.
If this road speed sensor is playing up could it possibly be just a loose connection or would it be better to replace...?

Hi this sort of problem could be a huge number of things from a dodgy rotor arm to a chip that is not compatible to your ecu, if you have just changed something that has caused this to happen replace your steps to what you have done!

Got the Oil filler cap. Thanks.

Havent changed anything apart from removing and replacing a few fuses when wiring in the sat nav, could I have upset the ECU.
Had a scan thro the bible last night and think I'm going to reset the base idle plus reset ECU an double check everything again.. bloody annoying.
Come on Tim @ ACT hurry up and send me my smooth bore intake hoses..
