someone local to me has just purchased a early looks like 1993 diablo its a LHD with a very very very loud exhaust it looks and sounds awsome.

its making me think how much are the early lhd diablos 40-45k at a guess??? but where are they all as the trader doesnt really have any seen a few on mobile.de but that involves all the usual importing running about.

anyone have a early diablo are they more trouble than they are worth or are they a good buy for the money not worried about the lhd just more car. if they are serviced correctly do they go on or do they have major problems??

lots of this going on in Switzerland for some reason - people buying Lambos and accessorising them in ways that would shame the Saxo brigades

The diable sounds wonderful but its build like a shed i regret to say.

Don't think the Diablo was around early 80s

How reliable are they with a few miles under the belt, not necessarily one of the first made, im thinking if you buy one with 50k miles + or alot more, is it going to need an engine rebuild? i'd be thinking of keeping it long term but it will get used & the mileage will get higher... anyone any experiance of hitting 100k miles in a Diablo?

Some of the mods are heinous. I can't decide if the clear engine cover makes up for the hideous spoiler on this Roadster. (Did the clear cover come as standard?)

Agreed. The build quality got better and better through the production lifecycle of the Diablo.

The best change was moving away from the bell jet ranger dash - and year on year improvements thereafter.

For any one who has every owned a (or many) Diablos will testify - they just keep you smiling.....

I have been reading this thread with interest as i have been looking at a 360 or 550 at about 60k, but never really thought of the Diablo, as i assumed that the running costs would cripple me!

Is it really that bad though? With the Fezzas you can get a pretty comprehensive warranty which will cover most things which can end up with huge bills, leaving the obvious consumables, servicing and non-warranty items.

From what I have researched the usual items such as clutches and servicing have pretty much the same cost as the TVR Tuscan I had before, but:

What should I expect the life/cost of a clutch to be?

How much does servicing cost?

Are there any other big problems which can happen, and;

can these be covered by a reputable warranty?

I am looking to be doing about 6000 miles a year, and would appreciate any advice!

Diablo is the looker of the ones you mentioned a 550 would be the practical one. A V12 will always be less economical compared to a V8 . . .

I believe that this is the GTR Diablo that was campaigned by Lee Cunningham (formerly of Lamborghini London, Modena et al) - who won the championship. This car was based in France (as it was leased for the racing).

I have many photographs of this car with it sponsorhip on (MRi being the primary sponsor) - where I was with Lee at Spa (Where he got his first win), Magney Cours (another first) and Donnington (where he got another first).

These cars have air jacks built in - and straight throogh exhausts - the sound is great - and you get little flames out of the exhaust on the over run - most excellent! I have some great video of Lee driving - he is such a smooth driver - double de clutching on the way UP and Down. He is truely an excellent driver.
