Front passenger side indicator lamp has recently dropped inside body shell. How do I get it back into the mounting without wrecking the car! Help!

You can pull it back but it's not easy. I've done it but you'll need to get the grille off and get a hand behind the aperture. Adding a joint to the middle of your forearm between elbow and wrist would help.... -Manek- Edited by manek on Wednesday 22 August 16:30

Plus make sure you have a few spoons/tyre levers ready for putting the grille back in again - it's a bugger of a job. I found it easiest to put the rubber surround in place and tease the grille into it. Trefor/.

Slightly different problem , however I need some help !

Just before BTaP I ran into a pheasant which pushed the indicator & grill into the body (1994 model). I tried to put it back in with contact adhesive and this has not worked (even after allowing 24 hours before I took the car for a blast).

Next I tried some clear silicon sealant and allowed 4 days before going for a blast this morning. I got back home and the pesky thing has fallen into the wing again.

I would rather not take it to a dealer if I can fix it myself. Is it me being a mechanical numpty or am I using the wrong type of stuff to fix it back in again ?

Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi Bob,
Haven't had any problems like this myself yet thankfully. As silicon's go I have found the Sikaflex (spelling?) from Part Co. it's about £7.50 tube, three colours black, clear and grey.
Sticks like ST to a blanket after 24 hours. Keep it off the paintwork, it WILL polish off "eventually".
It's also magic for leaks!
Hope this helps,
BigAl.

Thanks Big Al,

I will try that and let you know how I get on. The stuff I am using at present is cr@p.

Jut, just a reminder you will need orange bulbs to be legal. I got reminded a few years back (not in a TVR) by Mr.Plod who wasn't ammused.
