Non start 964 - info needed

Any idea where i can get 964 workshop manual? in fact any information would be good.

They dont do a "haynes manual" for the 964 but 911 enthusiasts companion by adrian strether is a handy book to own.
there is a good section on fault finding although I dont find it as useful as a haynes manual would be for other jobs as it does not go into step by step detail.

ps email haynes as there is a trigger point if enough people ask they will do one.

give us some more detail may be something simple like the dreded DME relay.

In answer to all the questions - the car started and ran for about two minutes and promptly died - no spark, no fuel pump operation. The DME relay is being replaced tomorrow in a hopeful bid to cure the dreaded problem!!! The reason the car is with me is simply another garage has fitted a clutch and then filled the engine with over twenty litres of oil - boy did she smoke for the first minute!!!!!!! We have sorted out the oil level issue but can't get the car to start, typical.

if you are able to follow the diagram on the side of the dme relay you should be able to jumper it to confirm relay or not.

We have replaced the DME relay (£19) but still no joy - suspect a problem with TDC sensor but resistance is good. Any other ideas?

Check if the immobiliser is playing up (assuming it has one fitted).

The 'take it to a specialist' route is recommended for running problems. You are likely to get as many red herrings as genuine lines of enquiry on a forum (quite innocently!) and it is like asking a doctor to diagnose your illness down the end of a phone... if he can see the symptoms then they're easier to identify and fix.

It is the distributor pick up that has failed, the reason i have the car is because a specialist was crap at fixing it at the first place!!!!!!

I sympathise... I have also had some really rubbish fault finding by main dealers and independents before. You need to find a good tech and stick with him
