In theory, should I be changing up at maximum torque or maximum bhp?

when your ears are bleeding press the left pedal and move the long stick forwards or backwards as appropriate.

Shouldn't you be changing up to maximise your time in the torque band? i.e. don't change up if it'll drop you out of the power/torque.

Maybe choose the area that will keep you within 20% of max power and change appropriately?

Torque accelerates and power gives VMAX so when you're in 5th you can only keep going!

I'd be changing up at maximum bhp - 5500rpm.

Your torque curve's looking pretty flat between 4-5k, so I'd be tempted to run up to 5ish and then change, assuming the ratios then keep you at 4k+.

Experiment on the day, I would.

Change up at max power - if geared correctly this should drop you back to around peak torque.
