f/1.4?? you must be joking - the DOF is more then 3mm!

it was f/4 at about 130mm, almost no cropping, maybe 5% off the top and 5% of each side

At 1.5m Dof would be 3mm
at 2.0m dof would be 6mm

It looks very alike a picture I took with my 20D using a 50mm 1.4, though mine didn't quite have the excellent depth of colour yours has (and was quite severely cropped).
