Hi Ommar,

I believe the Black Murcie you are talking about belongs to Tony Doe (he bought my motorsport elise off me years back)

I also believe he owns the X14MBO plate too which is on ebay

L4 MBO, LAM 80, LAM 130 are all out there plus all of the LAM 80-- type numbers.

I do have some pictures of some on my website www.carnumbers.piczo.com if anyone wants to have a look.
Before anyone starts shouting "advertising", this is not my business website but just a light hearted look at my life and interests in car numbers and nice cars.
Kind regards
Peter

Hey Tony, where in Northampton do you hang out with the Murci? I think I might have seen your Murci around All Saints church. Does 'X L4MBO' belong to you? I hear that tdcomms is in Moulton Business Park, just wandering, do you ever take your car to work or out in the rain?

John. Sorry for the confusion, I have had my posts removed by a prankster, so although I started this topic, my post does not show at the top of this page and my replies in other topics have diappeared and as you can see, my username has changed from 'arancioatlas007' to 'lp640' (which I carried out myself). Did you get back to my uncle on the 6.0VT? Cheers...

Does anyone know why profile photos do not update properly? I have a photo of my uncle's car in my profile and I want to get rid of it as he is now a member of Piston Heads. For a few minutes, the system replaces the photo with my chosen new one but later it returns to the old one. It's very annoying. Also, how do I add photos in a message like this?

I would like to say that the link to those car plates posted by 360boy is awesome, thanks for that. Some of those plates are just mental...

i went to the auction around 7 years ago to try and buy D14 BLO, i had a countach at the time but new a diab was next. the plate fetched around 12k plus fees. i later found out the guys i watched bid me away were lambo uk and howard furr barton. howard won it for his sv. i discovered he lived near me so met up a few times to go to lambo meets, i tell you that plate was awesome. i later heard he sold it on to another owner for around 20k, then moved away, but i don't know who got it. one of the reg transfer shops had it up again recently but when i called for another shot they couldn't get in touch with the owner. my friend barry has EN20 on his enzo, that's probably as good as plates get.

Thanks for the info.

It's gutting, to get the plate you want you either have to be one of those lucky yuppies from back in the day who managed to get hold of them at reasonable prices when they were first released, or you have to be blinding rich to get the plate you want today. I tell you what else annoys me, the fact that the perfect plate for you and I could be stuck on a Morris Marina or the like, that is either non-transferable or is a private plate that the owner is not willing to sell. Either way, there is no way of finding the owner of the mark due to the Data Protection Act.

It's possible to find what car a certain plate is registered with, i.e. the make/model/colour and year using something like eBay's motor verification system.

Yes I also own X 14MBO which my girlfriend has put up for sale on ebay. The Murci comes out in all weather and can normally be seen round Northampton, ta.

For a quick and free way to do this try this link Ommar. My business buys such data from source so could provide more accurate info , if required

Tariq's 6.0VT Diablo (username 'lam80') shows up on RAC as a black 6.0VT when it clearly isn't, it's orange (he's my uncle). Their database needs updating more often...

I know a few people in the trade who are threatening to bid for this.
It is going to go for a lot more than £900, me thinks!

360BOY,

What's the crack with numbers that have been issued in the past (e.g the plate I'm interested in was issued circa 1920 and then scrapped in the 60's) and are no longer in circulation? Will the DVLA put an previously issued plate up for auction if you pester them hard enough????

Hi Dealmaker

The policy at the moment regarding such numbers is as follows.....
The numbers which DVLA put in auction are ALL from unissued series. (i.e. they have never been on a vehicle before).
DVLA have promised us on numerous occasions that they will NEVER auction numbers from scrapped vehicles. We will have to wait and see if they keep their word.
The number which you mentioned (issued in the 1920s and scrapped in the 60s) unfortunately will not be available for transfer, as the vehicle no longer exists, and in a cherished transfer, the vehicle nearly always needs to be inspected by DVLA prior to approval of the application.
Hope this answers your question.
Pete
