I've just hit a dear in my 997 and stoved the front end in. The plastic front bumper is cracked. Anyone help with ideas of cost for a new bumper and where I can get one without the cost of going through a Porsche dealership? In fact, does anyone know if these plastic bumpers can be fixed if they have a crack in them? That would be a better solution.

The dear? Well, it got up and ran off! Unbelievable!

When you referred to hitting 'a dear' I thought you meant you'd hit an old biddy...

Might be worth a post in Biker Banter if it's plastic, they repair (weld) bike fairings.

Sure i saw a front bumper advertised in last months Porsche World mag by one of the parts specialists. There must be a few around as the odd person upgrades (so to speak) to the GT3 style bumper.

Charge is right.

Speak to a few of the "official Porsche body repair centres" - loads of them are retro-fitting Aero-kits to 997's so they have loads of front bumpers knocking around e.g Bill Heaney Coachworks in Newcastle - they were SCRAPPING them because they had so many!! You will probably be able to buy one IN THE RIGHT COLOUR!
