Dear All

A question re a problem that i'm sure we all suffer from......

Has anyone come up with a solution to stop the chipping and scratching of the paint where the roof is taken off and put back on. Mine has scratched like mad and its DRIVING ME MAD. I was thinking of getting it touched up but if I do this its only going to happen again.

You can get armorfend strips which fit along the edge which help to prevent chips and scratches. Whilst personally I dont like it on the bonnet it looks ok on the roof as it is quite unobtrusive.

I really dont know if it comes as a complete kit, but a main dealer should be able to advise if strips are available seperately.

I've got the same problem, cant see the point in getting the see thru stuff as it wont fix whats already happened! For the cost of it I was/am in the process of finding a touch up that'll hopefully do me for now, the TVR bnodyshop was quoting an arm and a leg for the full respray of the pillars and roof, as you said it'd only happen again and then when you come to sell it, you'd have to pay the same again!

all very well if your touching up a straight colour,if its a pearl or flip then its a waste of time as it wont match because all the metallic flakes in the base coat will lay fat and it will look alot darker!unless its black then you might get away with it

I've just dabbed touch up paint on and the chips dissapeared. 'now thats magic'. Admitted its a straight colour but the effect is suprisingly good. And next time its pissing down and your clumsy again, your pot of touch up is there on the shelf.

Had same problem. Gorners resprayed rear pillar last year for £270. Lad who re-fitted the roof straight after paint job scratched it again, so job was re-done, this time sticking on 2 small strips of armourfend to the afflicted area. No more scratches but the armourfend has gone a bit yellowy underneath. Bit unsightly on my car.

Speak to armourfend direct (www.armourfend.com/contactus.htm) they will sell whatever parts you need. I bought just the wheel arch kit for mine!
