Diff Access Holes

Anyone got a template, or dimensions, perhaps from a roll bar fitting, on where to cut holes to access the top diff carrier bushes and shock mounts? Cheers.

Paul, which model do you have? It doesn't say in your profile. I can take some pics and measurements at the weekend if it helps. Mine is an earlier 83 Tasmin so not sure if the dimensions would be the same as the later wedges. Cheers Steve

That would be very helpful, thankyou. Its a 1986 350, I have some new diff carrier bushes to put in and don't want to end up with holes everywhere!

Paul,apologies but I couldn't get the information this weekend. The wedge isn't in one piece at the moment and I didn't have power to open the boot. I did manage to get the engine back in today and so I should be ok to get the information in the week.

On some Wedges there is just enough clearance to remove shocks and diff. mounts without cutting holes in the shelf. I got mine out without but it is very tight.

If the clearance is tight, here's a tip:

1) Slacken off the two bolts holding the boot floor to the chassis, under the carpet uner the spare wheel.

2) put a block of wood under the boot floor on the side you're working on and jack it up a bit.

The boot floor will take quite a load (I managed to jack up the entire rear of the car on it - but take it easy) and you'll magically gain a few inches of clearance.

Paul, apologies I did say I would get you these measurements but the car has had no electrics for the last few weeks and I couldn't get in the boot.
Holes are 7.5cm from the edge of the front shelf and 26cm from the wheel arches. This however isn't going to be very accurate because of carpet thickness etc. When I did mine I first drilled a very small hole (1mm) until I was on top of the bolt and then gradually increased the size until a socket would fit. I've put some rubber bungs in so you just have to pull the carpet back to get access.
A couple of pics here, not very good but hopefully enough to clarify where the measurements were taken.

Sorry Paul I forgot this post Two of the wedges at last nights southern wedge meet, including mine have rollcentre bars fitted and I could have shown you the areas of fitting!
