Hi people!

Martin Luther King was not the only one to have a dream: I also have a dream, although not so noble and worldshaking like his one. I dream to buy a Cerbera.
The problem is that I live in Switzerland, where it is more probable to meet a tyrannosaurus rex on the street than Cerberas... not to mention second-hand Cerberas!
A really interesting possibility is to directly import the car from the UK, but the Swiss legislation requires several documents, in order to allow that. And now here is the boring stuff:

1. Can TVR issue an "EEC Certificate of Conformity" for the Cerbera (4.2 or 4.5, UK version)? Please note, national certificate of conformity is invalid: it has to be the european one!
2. Cars registered after 1.1.1997 have to fulfil EURO 2 antipollution standards: is it the case for the 4.2 & 4.5 Cerbera?
3. Does someone has experience with directly exporting cars from UK or importing to Switzerland? Useful hints?
4. What about the VAT: is it possible to get it back (17.5% is quite a big amount) also on a second-hand car?

Nic, if you speak to the factory, they do have some homogolation cert's for cars. You have to get the car VIN and Engine number on the cerfiticate etc. I had to do all this I tried to sell my T350 to a guy in Germany (which fell through in the end). The problem is the time it all take to get the documents done, and a seller willing to wait, when they may be able to sell in the UK.

If you buy from a TVR approved dealer however in the UK, they can get this done for you, well Castle TVR just around the corner from Stanstead Airport has done this before for buyers as I recall. www.castletvr.com/

Private car sales are will not have VAT on them, as usually the seller is not VAT registared, so you cant claim it back.

Get in contact with TVR MADS as they do exports, so will be a good starting point for some advise.

Otherwise TVR France may be able to help if France has similar red tape.

There is also TVR Deutschland- who managed to get a Sagaris trough the TÜV- they must have had a "Europäische Typzulassung" look @ their website, and there is also this one

There used to be a guy on the old cerbie list called "Tom in CH" who had a Cerbie there. He probably kept it there rather than having it registered.
