being very new to this tvr lark ( picking up my first tvr on saturday) i had some one mention to me the other day that a tvr has no rev limiter built in is this correct?? and is his the easiest way to blow a tvr engine by over reving, what is the safest advised rev limit and can you have a after market limiter put on?
any advice and help will be great

I am sure the new S6 (at least!) do have rev limiters, I know that my Tam does, as I've bounced off if twice thus far. You need to let the engine warm up before even considering taking it over 3/4K revs - once warmed up, they seem to go to around just over 7K, any more than that the power drops off, but having said that, it seems some engines are more equal than others! It may be wise to ask when you pick it up.

I think the rev limiter has always been there, I didn't realise until I hit the proverbial brick wall at 62 in 1st, definitely a limiter.
If its not too far, you take your gorgeous Tam to SP, I noticed they had all kinds of computer equipment hooked up to mine when tuning it, and it's even better now.
Tam Wayne, welcome to the club. I joined it 4 weeks ago with a 02 Tam with 7k miles on the clock. You are going to be seriously impressed and in fact may want to sleep in your car :-)
Seriously I have found the advice on here to be xcellent. Keep below 2700 revs till oil temp is above 50 degrees, then its party time. Also do not drive the car slowly in hi gear. Check the oil and water every week.

The manual suggest you might want to wait a bit longer before party time. I think from memory, suggests oil temp should be over 80 before taking it to 7k. Agreed can give it a bit of welly once over 50deg, probably 5k revs.
Although in these temperatures, been struggling to get it over 70deg....

Like I said before, at the moment, sometimes struggles to get above 70, especially when driving at speed rather than round town. But mine probably gets to 60 after about 5-7miles. Only had mine since Sept, and then I was running in, so no experience of driving it in warmer weather. Mine stays in the garage, but even then the oil temp when cold is starting at 5deg at times. Guess it will start much higher during the summer months, so would have thought time to play time might be a bit shorter! Roll on the summer...
Every Tamora or T350 I've seen has a soft-cut rev limit at 7580 RPM, and a hard cut at 7685 RPM. This info is straight out of the chip.
However I wouldn't recommend routinely cracking the 7KRPM barrier if you want give the engine the chance to enjoy the longest possible lifespan

Ah! I was thinking of a smart rev limiter that keeps the revs down until the oil has warmed up sufficiently. I didn't realise you ment a limiter to keep you from going into the red. I assume my Tamora will have this but I've not really been over 5500 RPM as I'm still under 6000 miles (running in the Red Rose with 'mineral' oil). SP we're very informative and helpful in recommending the best driving style until the next service and heavier weight oil is used.
