Stunning.
You clearly live in a place where owning a G is more worth while than over here in blighty.
Just watch out for skippy when coming over the crest of hills.
It will be interesting to here your reports though as you've had the 04 to compare.
Simlilar to the 360 owners who got cs's I'd imagine.
congrats

Am I right in thinking that you have to pay a ridiculous amount of tax for having a low pointy wedgy sports car in Oz?
Anjum
Sadly Anjum, you are correct. A stock standard Gallardo is about 170,000 GBP and the SE about 190,000 GBP. It helps to be obsessed.
At least the petrol is cheaper. Oh, and there are empty roads 30 minutes from my office.
Oh how I wish I was in Austrailia now.
It's bloody freezing here and I am just plucking up enough courage to go out in it, because I need to get some shopping.
Incidently, lovely Gallardo mate!

Chris, for sure. I'm a day's drive from Melbourne - a long time to sit at the speed limit - but you never know. I know the guys at Lamborghini Melbourne well. Bring the Spyder to Adelaide and I'll show you some fast roads.

You'll be comfortable in Toorak - it's Melbourne's priciest suburb.

Yeah i know, Toorak, Richmond are the places she is looking (she is from Melbourne), i quite fancy St Kilda.
Should be end of this year, depending on work and your Government sorting out my Visa quickly, so should be there in plenty of time to enjoy the summer and get the roof down.
Will let you know - do you have any contact details for Lambo Melbourne for me, i might send them an e-mail about Servicing etc.
I will have to take the car back to the UK after a certain period of time though, or i get tax'd big time !
Mhh, looks great.
Are the differences between the 06 model that large? I know the motoring press are often prone to singing the praises a little too loud of the emperor's new clothes so your viewpoint is of interest, having had both.
I test drove a Gallardo last year and really enjoyed it. Everything seemed ok on the brief test drive and the only minor things I noted were the gearbox throw seemed a little long and there was a lack of lower back support from the seats.......OK, I'm being picky, other than that, I liked it a lot.
I'm thinking a private sale Gallardo at £75-£80k is making good sense and represents a good saving on a 06 model, which is beyond what I'd want to spend anyway....Or is the 06 so much better that I should until next year and buy one of them used instead?

Well, the changes are significant when added together but not huge on their own; the press on the new car is about right. The car feels better sorted overall, but not in the chalk/cheese category. It is a more sporting drive at least in SE form with the sports suspension. Mine is an e-gear so I can't comment on the shift throw. In some senses the 04 is an easier car for daily use being quieter and a little softer. The new exhaust is LOUD when provoked.
I'm happy to have made the switch but if you find a really nice 04 or 05 when the time comes, I would go for it and save the dough. After all, I'm sure the 07 and 08 models will be better again etc.
I'd sum it up by saying the SE feels like a sharper tool, but it is all a matter of degree.
