Last week I got pulled over in my parents V6 Freelander. I passed the marked police car as it was coming out of a slip road at Dereham. Because of this, and the fact it was dark, I only saw the car's tail lights and not its markings I carried on at my speed, on an empty straight section of the A47. Anyway I came upon a couple of cars in my lane, so had to slow down. And THANK GOD! We got onto the single carriageway near Hockering and I just saw these head lights charging up behind me, and thats when the blue lights came on!! Not entirely sure what car it was, altho it didnt look big enough to be a traffic car. Anyway, the guys get out come over and say I was "going like the clappers" when I passed them. They said they were doing 115mph to catch up to me, but they didn't have a chance to pace me to get my speed! All they could do was give me a slap on the wrist and send me on my way
Can't complain about the guys tho, very polite and curteous. I certainly didnt fob them off with any excuses for my speed, but it was a bit of a close call really!!

You've definately used a life up there Daren! I had a similar experience a couple of years back except I got clocked at an average of 93 for 5 miles. He was a gent though and put 75 down on the ticket.

Someone I know just got flashed at 38 in a 30. He's already got 9 points so it looks like a ban. That will mean he can't work so I expect he'll be sat in a shop doorway with a dog on a bit of string the next time I see him.

I think the moral of the story is: Best to register your car in Lithuania as the authorties won't bother to trace you.

That's no indication of how fast you were going though. All it means they broke the law more then you did, but they can boast about it.

John75, I believe the same is true if your car is register on an Isle of Man number plate. Because its "foreign" they can't trace it

Simpo, I know how fast I was going, but I told the copper I didnt know because I "was not watching the speedo, I was watching where I was going". To me a perfectly legit excuse.

I'm just glad I wasn't in the Merc. I know I would have been travelling alot faster down that stretch of road!

looks like they are pretty hot on the A47, i got a ticket in the post last week for doing 84 in a 70, in a car i got rid of last august!
i was thinking ive not been on the A47 for years, then i noticed the registration was my old alfa.
i'll just send it back with the 'i'm not the owner' box filled in.
wonder if they do him for not having a correctly registerd vehicle as well?.
