Ok, so what's the solution? Every morning (06:00), I put my gear on. Balaclarva, then scarf/tube thingy whixh tucks into my jacket, and my helmet. Do everything up and off I go, with neck nice and warm. Within 5 minures (50mph'ish) there is a gale blowing around inside my helmet and my eyes are streaming. It's not as if my lid is too big, is a great fit, but how the hell do I block this gale? People have even commented on my eyes being red, and "have I ben crying" in the office all day??!!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

There, there, you can tell us all about it - no need to blame it on your helmet

PS Do you wear a 'buff' (neck warmer thingy) if not, that might help with the seal...

Surely it must be a Helmet problem, must it not ?

I have an Arai Astro helmet & don't have this happening.

On a seperate point though I've just bought a neck warmer. Though it was a bit of a girly thing to do until my neck seized up after the first ride on the bike. Still feel it 2 weeks later. Lesson well & truelly learnt.

Honestly, I only cry when I heroic animal dies, or I have to go to the dentist.
Yeah, I have one of those neck warmers, and thought that wearing it with the balaclava would do the trick, but no joy.
I thought it was the helmet, but I couldn't get into a smaller one.....perhaps put a scarf on after the helmet?

Have you got a vent in your chin piece?
Be careful making to good a seal, you can get oxygen starvation when stationary if you don't lift your visor.

Tried closing the visor?

On a slightly more serious note, your helmet will likely have various vent holes, or isn't sealing properly... Close these vents, get a Foggy, and put some silicone around the seal.

What model is it?

The helmet is a "KBC" (is that right?) but have no idea what the model is. It's got a vent in the chin area, but I keep this closed.....Silicone around the seal, that's a good idea...won't mess the helmet up or anything will it? Can I pull it off should it not work?

Cheers.

Treat yourself to a nice Arai or Shoei Chilli paying morereally does give you more - not safety as such but comfort. They tend to be quieter, better field of vision and less wind in your eyes

does your lid have a (retractable) chin spoiler fitted? These sometimes stop the air 'eddying' back up inside the lid.

You definitely need a Respro Foggy mask.

Will stop your breath getting anywhere near the visor...

Will stop the wind getting to your eyes...

No one has suggested yet that it could be the aero dynamics of your bike causing an updraught in front of you into your visor, whenever I take a pillion on my bike this happens between me and the pillion. Have you got a faired bike?

You know what, I think you might have nailed it there. I don't remember having the problem as bad on my old bike, and it's been said thta the new one has a slightly lover screen....AND it stops when I hug the tank (not sure if that was obvious!).

Great...A new bike then!!!

If this is due to a low screen then buy yourself a double bubble screen which will divert the wind over your head. I have always replaced my standard screens with a Fabbri Double Bubble screen....the difference is very noticeable....

Sounds like a plan. Would this be a call to the dealer, or grab one of ebay?

Chilli, try your dealer or do a search on the web for Fabbri, something should come up.

It also depends on your bike, if you have a relatively new model bike then Fabbri may not have a screen made just yet but they will be in the pipeline.....also the Fabbri screens are very well made, I've had their screens on all my bikes.

Andy.

Very true, they are no good for motorcross or enduro bikes and look a bit weird on the front of a CRF 450!

I've got an Arai and it is a great Helmet but it's not quiet, in fact it's the noisiest lid I've ever owned.
