Nice one. I had to take mine out many years ago to get it recored and it didn't go as smoothly as yours seemed to. However, I didn't try turning it upside down before removing it!

nice job, but i'd move and wrap those fan connectors tho.

water will roll down the bonnet and short them out!

a waterproof connector from RS or similar will do nicely, 'bout £5. even one from a lawn mower shop will do. (waterproof mains connector)

Sounds a a great idea - those connectors have always seemed to be in a funny place to me. I have had a browse around RS, but cannot seem to find anything sutiable, do you have apisture of what you mean?

Also, have weighed the old radiator now, gave it a week to dry out fully:

Weight of Ali radiator with integral fan cowlings = 13.1 pounds/ 5.94 Kg
Weight of standard rad including plastic fan cowlings = 22.2 pounds/ 10.07 Kg

Quite a difference. Been for the first proper run today and have really noticed the lack of fan's kicking in. Very steady temperature at just over 70 on the guage during motorwat cruising. With the old rad the fan was cutting in avery 5 mins or so. (I have the coot stat and otter switch from Leven fitted).

Have just completed the same job, Ali Rad, Silicone hoses, Stainless Pipes & a 3/4 Size No Plate. Went for a proper run yesterday for the first time, I couldn't beleive the difference. The Fans seem to be on for half the time they used to be. As soon as you get moving after being in traffic the temp starts to come down. Was a bit worried about over cooling, but seems to run at 73-75 Deg on motorway & It wasn't exactly warm yesterday.
