It might be the exhaust can that we over adjusted at Goodwood? It is now to near the body work at the back.

I have experienced the same problem a few times, on my new Tuscan. It would bang two or three times (back left rear) at the start, when backing out of the garage. Then it appeared ok. Have had no problems for the last few weeks, but I will get it checked out when in goes back for the 1000-mile service.

Cheers
Paul

A couple of non tvr guys have said it could be my fuel pump...any help..please, not sure if it could lead to worse things...its still there, after it bangs it then sort of does a heavy dull vibrating noise ...its not there at all when started up on idle

Woody,

Bizarre mine done it today?? two bangs then nothing. Resembled the noise of a metal rod slapping.

Yes its left hand side glove box (ish) area under bonnet.

I dont think its an exhaust isssue, however the engine will rock heavier on start up. But its a straight six and not a "V"

I will have a look over next week end to see what it is, but i am not that worried about it really. (they all do it, by the looks of it)

I would put my money on a pump priming or something else at this point.

I am supprised no one knows the exact answer, it appears to be quite common!

If some one cracks it before next week end let me know please.

(oh thank you for your e-mailed advice) needed that three days later

I have the same thing on my Tusc. Always on start up. Sounds like its coming from inside the front near side wing.

My engineer said its the warm air heater unit sorting itself out and that i shouldn't worry about it.

This would seem to be right as it did not bang BEFORE my engineer fixed the heater which had been non-functional when i bought the car.

Hope this helps.

you need the heater servo motor replaced. The cheap plastics cogs simply wear out.

Ahh! That makes sense, anything to do with my heater bangs, if i put on air con it makes a single knock, asl owhen i turn it on and off!

Or is this another bang, the tusk thrives on them

its another bang Thats your air-con compressor turning on or off.

The heater servo motor controls the switching from cold to hot air. This will be silent in operation until the cogs start to wear out when it will become noisy and eventually fail to switch your heater on.

By the way its not on start up as I first said its on the first turn of the ignition before start up...sound right?

Correct. It's not urgent if you don't mind the heater not working

Re-reading this post and i feel it might be taken the wrong way. I meant, shock and horror to find that TVR are using cheap plastic parts!!!
