PC PROBS - ARGH

Turned on the old PC this morning and will not load windows xp, gets to the blue screen (very technical me) with 2 blue bars on the top and thats it goes no further.
Tried to start in safe mode and pressed the space bar and to load up last known version but no joy.
Anyone give me any ideas what the prob may be or what i could do?

If you can get it in to the bios, make your cd rom the first boot device, put your windows disk in and reboot.
You should be able to repair your existing operating system.
If not, you can install a fresh one. You shouldn't lose your documents, unless your HD is screwed..in which case none of the above will work.
