So here's your chance to says what's not so Great
about Britain these days.
I'll start the ball rolling with :
Traffic Wardens (who said the Nazi's were defeated)
Proposed London Congestion charge (Thanks Ken !)
Draconian speed enforcement & speeding is the route
of all evil in society.
Tax - the shere amount of it we pay.
Law - we now live in a country that really favours
the serious criminal.
Any others.... ?

Our history
Our language
our cultural gifts to the world - shakespeare, the beatles, Elgar, and others
Tommy Cooper
Cricket,
football
Tennis
rugby
All the other sports we invented, and then gave to the world for them to beat us at!
Our sense of fair play
We whinge, but we're not cowed. Never say DIE!
The Royal Navy
The RAF
The British Army
Sooooo much more I just cannot begin to put into words.
All in all, the fact that SO MANY people want to come here says something good about us. (Doesn't mean we should take em all though. After all, I'd like to live in Windsor Castle but I suspect her Maj might just have a word or two to say about that!)
No doubt about it this is still a Great Country. After all, we can complain about what we like, as much as we like, and no one is going to visit us in the middle of the night and shoot us in our beds as a result.
Thats becoming rarer in this sad world

? You're right though, it isn't all that bad. I've spent a lot of time working in America and Australia. The last time I was in Aus, I had a convertable V12 XJS as a company car (cf shopping car here), great access to the beaches, close to the Blue mountains for 4WDing and a bigger house. I was still ready to come home though. Although there are a lot of other countries with a much better lifestyle on paper, there is something about the UK that keeps drawing people back.
Must be the culture
. We had a lot of history here, but we also know how to party. Clubbing 'til 6 in the morning, big nights out with friends, driving half way across the country to meet up with people you met whist talking about cars on an internet site etc??? None of this has the same energy abroad - think I'll be staying around for a while :yes.How could I forget Caterham! 
Oh, well I just remembered Rolls Royce and Bentley! oh, and Clotted cream, and marmalade, and hot tea (can you get a decent brew anywhere else in the world - not in my experience you can't) not to mention Purdey and the NHS and Devon on a hot, still summers day, and scrumpy cider, and Coxs apples and sooo much more.
Not too far away then Mrs F. ! I'll bring the wedge over when Mr Fs T350 arrives and we can wake the neighborhood!

You need to get out more.
No doubt about it this is still a Great Country.
Maybe 60-80 years ago, but not now.
Now it's just a small third world country
on the edge of Europe.
Might be the Hong Kong of Europe one day is about
the most positive thing I can say.
Free press, democracy, low unemployment, independent judiciary, uncorrupt police ... yup, the UK is a total shit heap. Personally I hark back to 50 years ago when thousands of young men were getting shot up in the War, we still had nice cosy slums and kids with malnutrition. Outside lavs, oh those were the days.
Kind of agree with the last but one post. This country is right at the end of the 'empire' chapter of its history and is struggling to find its place and its identity - What is being British in a multicultural society, Are we a world power, Do we need to be a world power, Why do we still have nuclear weapons, Can you see Blair ordering a nuclear strike?
We are in a quagmire that will last a generation or two before the next chapter begins. The likes of Blair and New labour and their incredible brand of blandness, pop-policy and short-sightedness together with the apathy seen in the majority of the public will continue the downward spiral until rock-bottom is hit and we are forced to sit up and be counted.

Quite frankly, there hasn't been a major war precisely because of these.
If anything, we should be arming to the teeth and developing the most advanced missile detection systems and sending out quite the most unequivocal message to any potential aggressors.
Also, you can't spend enough on intelligence either...
(It's only a matter of time till one of the more volatile regimes has ICBM capability.)
Clearly, this may not help our latent domestic terrorist threats but that's another quandry.
