Not sure whether to buy a Sagaris
Discussion
I toyed with the idea last year but decided to buy a Focus and an Elise. The plan was to track the Elise and use the Focus day to day, in seven months I've driven the Elise 400 miles and one airfield day. Wife's getting an X5 soon so we'll use that if we need to move lots of luggage etc.
What's a Sagaris like to drive every day? I get the train to work each day and drive probably 2 miles to the station and 2 miles back, would these short journeys harm a TVR? My 996 used to eat oil like mad because it never got warmed up.
Do things like the ramps in multi story car parks and speed bumps cause some difficulty in a Sagaris?
Have been reading the thread on clutches lasting 20K ish, is that really the case? How about things like disks and pads, I know it depends on how you drive the car but typically how often are they replaced?
Anything else I shoulf consider/ be aware of?
Thanks,
Phil

my situation is very similar top yours, 4 miles a day station and back. Buy a cheap renault peugeot or something plenty around. I would not dream of leaving my Saggy at a station all day.

Was thinking about that. could spend £1K on a Peugeot 106 or something for the daily journey.
What's the service interval on the Sagaris?
Phil
Service 1k, 6k, then every 6k.
I wouldn't bother using the 'Gris if my journey was that short - unless you leave it running for 10 minutes before you take off. Apart from anything else, 1/ the drive is too short to get the benefit of the car, and 2/ leaving it at a station all day is not really a good idea: company car park yes, but public parking? Not recommended.
However, I suppose if you like the car that much, why not? It is a pleasure to drive - since picking mine up last August, driven every day apart from service time. Still can't get enough of it!!
Having two 75 kg dogs + secure drive, I leave the 'Gris running while I have breakfast for 5-10 minutes and then have a 10-15 minute drive to work through some good clear sweeping back roads. Not much traffic on the road at the time I start out, and leave early for the same reason.

Multi-story car parks and speed bumps no problem so far in my Sagaris, although I have cracked the front splitter in a (big) pothole.
Being shorter than a Tuscan, I think, it is less nerve-wracking to manoevre.
Agree with other posts, you should buy a trusty rusty to leave at the railway station IMO.

It's one of those cars that I really want, done the porker and M3's and the Elise isn't quite scary enough. So even if I only use the Sagaris at weekends at least I'll have something to look forward to of a Saturday/Sunday.
Once I get my new package agreed with HR, I'll start looking for a car in ernest. Anything that I should stay clear of or equally, look for?
Thanks,
Pil

The spooky thing is I was thinking of a Focus and an Elise later this year
due to changes in my job role. (You can pick up good servicable runners for £400 - £500)

Fancy a lazer blue 111R with Larini exhaust and exige suspension?
Phil[/quote]
Sure, for £400-500!
Definitely not a good idea to leave the car running at idle for 10 minutes unless you have had idle increased to 1500rpm.
The oil feed to the exhaust side camshaft and followers is marginal at low revs.
Best to start and drive in the normal rev band for the engine. Take a detour if the journey is short and you want to fully warm her through.
