Looks like I'll be bringing in my TVR 350i fairly soon and I have a few questions. It is over 20 years old and I've had it 17 years so frontal impact and duty requirements aren't applicable as far as I can work out. Am I correct?
But whether temporary or permanent import, temporary suits until I sell my cherished reg. Can I later choose to make it a permanent import?
Authorities over here suggest it needs road tax from the UK to use, even if I get a WOF and tourist sticker for it. I figure if its not on UK roads I don't need road tax overseas. Its a lot of money for road tax for a week or two here!
Any advice and comment welcome - even don't do it

Hi Mark, I suspect the lack of response to your question is because no-one has any experience of the temporary import process or what would be involved in keeping it here once it's come in on that scheme. If I was you I'd keep it simple or you may run into more red tape than you'd expect - if your UK reg is worth that much that it's worth hanging out for a good price then just transfer it to a £50 heap and get your tiv on the boat.

Cheers
Don

Thanks for the reply Don. I can alternatively put the reg number on retention certificate. Nobody checks UK tax discs do they? I don't want to buy one for it to be in a container for 6 weeks and never on UK roads but thats what my shipper is suggesting!!
