Polish officers policing UK roads
Discussion
Welsh Daily Post has a story on Polish traffic cops joining Welsh police to "crack down on death trap lorries" from Europe.
The name for this this scheme is Tispol, the European Road Police Network, with police from 25 countries targetting Europe's roads.
"More than 50,000 deaths occurred on Europes roads in 2001 and the target is to halve this by 2010"
Prima face this seem a good idea but I wonder if it is yet another step towards a pan-European police force controlled from Brussels which is what is intended by amalgamating our current forces into 12 regional forces.
More salami slicing? A bit at a time and no one notices? New Stasi?

Why Wales? Surely it would make more sense just to station the police at the ports?
This looks like drip feeding the public over acceptability of an EU wide thought police force cracking down on politically incorrect crimes under those familiar twin flags of convenience, woad safety and the enviwonment (think of the childwen). So we can expect roads policing to get the first bite, then they'll be sending out latvian binmen to fiddle with our green boxes. Szoon ve face ze on za zpodt fyne for tinz in binz.
Is the country with the safest roads in europe the first target? If so why? What about a crackdown on incompetent and/or corrupt feckwits on the EU gravytrain? No shortage of PH volunteers I'd guess.
Everythings getting hived off, privatised / moved on from police control, or so it seems - motorway policing( lower paid HATO), street policing ( done by on the cheap PCSO), Noise Pollution - get some chav with a ghetto blaster at midnight - "call the council sir"- now they're polishing things off (awful pun) .
Or this could just be Brunstrom seeking attention after his demise on road policing at ACPO.
I've been wondering for a while now about how he was going to get himself in the limelight again.
There's no sense in targetting trucks in North Wales, and do all duff trucks only come from Poland?
The good people of North Wales will have to pay for this through their council tax, or suffer cuts in some other aspect of police service. I can't see Brunny economising by cutting out those essential welfare aids he provides for his merry men....worry beads and sun cream.

Well, I nipped over to the Cross Green car boot sale, in Leeds, yesterday morning.
I think I was the only Englishman there. I heard all sorts of languages, saw all sorts of colours, and noticed all the kebab, hal-al meat stores and suchlike there.
Seems right that a country which now has so many immigrants should also have them working within our Police forces. Why not, if they can do a good job?
I'm dying for the time, having transgressed a motoring law and been pulled over, that I can say something along the lines of "I no understand. I English. Can you get interpreter?"
So are we all happy to have a pan-European police force controlled from Brussels?
Simple explanation I suspect.
The main ferry route to Eire departs from North Wales.
Since Poland joined the EU I have it on good authority (well, a cabbie in Dublin last summer .. good enough surely?) that about 40,000 Poles have moved to Dublin. Certainly seemed that might be the case when I was at the airport and the departure lounge was full of people from the more eastern european countries, the Ryan Air crew all had names that suggested possibly Russian ancestry and the snack outlets were not a source of greetings delivered in an Irish accent or idiom.
So, they need to get regular Polish supplies of food and other comestibles to their ex-pats and the favoured method would be by lorry, traversing England and parts of Wales on the way. They are probably loaded up with Blarney and Computers on the way back.
Some may divert to Lancashire of course. I assume the population reported (often misheard I believe) by the Beatles back in the 60's referred to "4,000 Poles in Blackburn, Lancashire."

We had a couple of French Gendarmerie with us on a roadcheck the other day at a services on the M25.
It was worth getting up very early to see the face on the first french Artic driver that we stopped when he was confronted by a Gendarme.
Edited to add - but, erm, a european wide stasi thought police taking innocent drivers to turkish jails on paid-for arrest warrants because of a problem with their facial expression is of course totally repugnant

..............
Surely then it would mean that any Polish lorries would have been travelling across the UK carrying out any alleged offences/danger to MOP's etc.
Make more sense to have the Polish BiB where the lorries ENTER the UK and they could be stopped before they do any damage.
Methinks that I smell Blunderbum's influence in this - New idea to get him top job in the new 'All Wales' force perhaps?????
