Metta M99t with microwave sensor.

Technically not CAT 1 because they are factory installed, and TVR are not Thatcham CAT 1 approved installers, but as far as the insurance company's go, they are CAT 1, and the letter you would get from TVR says CAT 1

Hope that helps

I'm with Direct Line too and sent them a copy of a letter the dealer had describing the alarm system, which unfortunaly has been sent back to me being refused by Direct Line.

I was planning on contacting the factory to see what they recommend. What document/certificate were you planning on sending to Direct Line?

Direct Line own Privilege, and Privilege accepted the letter from me without any problems (as I expect a lot of people here have experienced).

Sounds like somebody is being a bit of a jobsworth, unless something has changed recently.

s99ane,

My T350C is currently with Direct Line, though just about to leave for Privilege, only 300 quid cheaper on renewel! Anyway, I sent the letter below to Direct Line and they were satisfied with this.

None of you guys have mentioned trackers. Just checking (I started a thread on this a while ago) but are we talking new Tams/T350s or a year or so old? Privilege insist on a Tracker for online quotes and they give best quote. Sainsbury next, don't require tracker, but don't protect NCD.

It's like comparing apples with blee%ing pears, looking at insurance.

My T350C is May 2003, probably explaining why neither required a tracker for my quote, although my car does actually have one thanks to the previous owner.

I'm with Privilege. Brand new T350T back in July 05, insured for £43,000 in a Low Risk Bristol postcode, no tracker required(although i've had one fitted) and they accepted the letter from the factory without question.

Did you get your quote online, or over the phone?

Phone. I don't trust insurance companies to store the correct details, which they potentially could try and use against you if you claim. So to make sure they had all the correct details I ring, whilst recording the phone call.

OK thanks. I'll call them. Guess it's a standard online quote thing to require a tracker. I expect to get one, but would prefer to spend the right time choosing the right one.

I'm also looking at 'fleet' type policies from Privilege and Primo (when they get around to sending me the forms). Dunno if anyone has any experience of these, and if they actually save money?
