Now I wouldn't call myself tall at 5'11" but my seat is fully back and still I'm a bit cramped.
Is this normal?

Hi, Check that the rear foot mat is not fouling the front seat.It can cause a problem with the electric front seat moving all the way back.

I'm 6'1" and did have to change my driving position going from an M3 to a C4S.

Just check the seat isn't getting fouled by the rear mats or some other obstruction. Compare this to the passenger seat.
