Have to say, it was before we even got to breakfast.
We arrange that AndyP in the Evo 6 will tag on as we pass the services. We go past, Andy has to play catch up, flies past us in a kind of "flying sedately" manner, lifts off ... and not just a flash, but the equivalent of a hot air balloon on full burn shoots out the back ... simply awesome
Hope you enjoyed the day matey!

All,
Thank you SO much for making Dr T's day, suffice to say Gordon had a fabulous time, and asks me to thank you for all the kind comments about his car. He didn't want to take the piss on the track, but myself and Plotty saw it fly through the guns on the way out at a respectable 106....which he was well chuffed with.
Thanks to Rich Viant, Joust, Maff, Clive (RS4), Rods, Smiffy and DeR himself for taking the good doctor out in their respective steeds. He loved every one. Being a doctor of physics I think the cornering capabilities of the M400 was what had him speaking incessanty over dinner yesterday eve....and Smiffys car control!
Huge politely formed round of applause to the lovely Corinne and the even lovlier Podie for a great breakfast too. I particularly liked the serving hatch idea!!
Great to see you all, lets hope 11 is a little warmer, eh?
Greg

Craig et al you're ALL legends. Thanks go to Al for getting a replacement car there at such short notice and for chucking the keys to his lovely 3.2 Carrera to me. Once I managed to get it moving forwards I managed a 142 in the old girl. Also to Adrian for taking me to and from the event and for all the high-speed passenger rides. You are a gentleman and a scholar and will shortly have mail. To Davey for the passenger ride in the 456GTA and finally to Dazren for giving me a passenger ride in his legendary X50. I now know what I should be doing when I reach the bottom bend and the twisty bits on the way back!
Daz said "You'd better hold on here"....not half!
Thanks to Daz, I also now have a serious itch that I am going to have to scratch sooner rather than later and it goes by the name of 996 TT X50.
VMAX indeed.

Highlight for me was an end-of-day run in Sam's GT3 (thanks Sam) - that is one hell of a nice car, lovely engine and beautiful handling. Certainly quite driftable I think
Was interesting to contrast to Al's lovely Carrera - thats a hell of a car for the money, full of character and felt strong as the day it left the factory, goes alright too for a old 'un...(the car, not Al
)
Also had some great fun exploring the outer limits of the NSX's behaviour, I now realize its recoverable from maximum opposite lock which probably didn't help my run onto the main straight
Not the easiest thing in the world to drift so I'm pretty happy with the entertainment its providing these days.... roll on the next VMAX (although my rear tyres will start to look a bit sorry for themselves)!!

Please, please, please may I trouble you for such a ride, should I be fortunate enough to attend any future VMAX. I don't do drifting, but would love to passenger with somebody that is able.
Regards
Steve
p.s. O/T Come on the Fulham! What was Gallas doing?
What a great day!! Thanks to everyone, especially Craig,James and Greg for sacrificing their own enjoyment to stand in the bitter cold for countless hours to marshall us and make sure we didnt get into trouble.I really, really appreciated your efforts guys, and next time i volunteer to help out so you guys can have more time to chill and have fun!!
I honestly cant wait for the next one, even though it seems those pesky roadworks on the M1 will be going on for 2 years!!(did slow us down a lot on the way home) at least we will have an extra carpool lane to get up to brunters quicker in future.
PS shouldnt we have a supercar lane too, min speed 100mph (traffic permitting!)

Once I managed to get it moving forwards...
I feel there may be tales on VW forums with Neil Cardiff saying "You should see how I blasted this 911 off the line. It was like it was moving backwards!"
Not yet
I'm saving those for special occasions... On a serious note though, by the afternoon I'd got the hang of my starts, and I was impressed that the first gear was rather swift - I was able to match several cars to say 20mph - but after that I was obviously destroyed. I don't know why that was - perhaps many were being much more careful with clutches - after all my 150bhp probably doesn't trouble the clutch (original too I think) so full bore starts could be performed.
However, I did chuckle quite a few times at how I could catch machinery a way up ahead of me into the first corner, and come out in front briefly

Huge thanks as usual to Craig, Greg and all the other organisers.
Another great day even though I was gutted not to have the Exige there. I picked it up an hour ago with the suspension all sorted and the tracking done and it feels sharp as a razor. Never mind, have to wait until next time.
Thanks also to Muncher for a drive in the 220 and to Rich for letting me drive an S1 Elise again.
Ride of the day was in Leon's 993 RUF. Redefined fast for me.
