Cheered me up no end

Sunday afternoon, after a bit of an up 'n down week, decided to give the Cerbera a leisurely spin (wanted to do it on Saturday but dshe refused to start - needed a few hours with the trickle charger). Sunday was a perfect day for it too. Got onto some lovely wide straight empty roads and just taking it very easy, then what should i see right up my ar5e than a lovely black BMW M5, who clearly wanted to play (maybe he had had a bad week too). I duly responded and off i went (all within speed limits of course - more of a masterclass in quick acceleration technique ). Could he keep up with the Cerbs acceleration?? - oh no - but I must admit he made a very good effort.

Whats the spec of those BMW M5's? They are astonishingly fast for a big car!

PS - i know it was an M5 because when i turned off he went by me and it had x4 exhaust pipes and the M5 badge

E39 M5 is 400bhp V8 in admittedly a lot of metal.

i need a good fix like that! A grin like that can last for days.

Cerb has been sat on the drive for two weeks now without a spin...its like an addiction, i need to go out in her again!

the new M5s are around 509 bhp i think you can run what power you want dependending on
you mood i suppose

that's powerful! Still, i guess they weigh quite a bit, what with all that gadgetry

Read up on the M series warranty thread in the news section. They sound less reliable than a TVR and more expensive to fix.

so maybe it was more of an endurance test we had with each other on Sunday - see who could go the farthest without conking out

Nice one Greg , although some on here are adamant that an E39 will have you for breakfast (mentioning no names etc )

Remember....the M5 Cost a lost more which makes it more satisfying on reading posts such as these.

I don't think I ever said the E39 would have you for breakfast. I think I said when I tested my Cerb up against my father in my E39, I couldn't leave him.

The closest I came to pulling out a lead was on a long straight, and it wasn't that much. In the twisties he was right up my chuff most of the time.

This was about the time in the conversation when the obviously better endowed amongst the Cerb owners went off on one about how much my Cerb was in need of a good sorting.
