I`m a bit worried. been looking under my chimaera. (first time sice I bought it)

Found that where the seatbelt mounting is (near the sill), where the bolt goes through the body before bolting to the chassis the body has started cracking!

Seems like the bolt has been done up too tight causing it to crack, think that only the gel coat is cracked, but I`m worried about it getting worse!

Has anyone experienced this before?
Any advice would be welcome.

Ooops,
sounds scary - perhaps I'd better check mine.
A big penny washer under the bolt would help spread the load and reduce any twisting/bending lateral typr forces that are being exerted.

Had some good advice from a friendly pro: For cracks in GRP, drill a small hole at each end, fill & paint. Stops the crack spreading.

Hope you're right about tight nuts. I had gelcoat cracks from slight impact damage on my TVR. Looked mild on the outside, but was bad news underneath. Still, it's only money....

Thanks for your help. everything else seems fine with the car. I`ve even been in contact with the first owner, who i was on the phone to for about an hour! he wouldn`t stop talking about the car, which in my mind is good news.

Think i`ll just put a washer behind it and keep an eye on it!
