My radiator is definately leaking and I need to get it recored which I have been informed is better than buying new and I cannot justify the cost of a new alloy one.

Barrs leaks held out last year but I don't want to take a chance with another trip to Lemans lust around the corner....

I have a choice of a couple of places reasonably close to me namely, Colchester Radiator Specialist's (Colchester) and Anglian Motor Radiators (Romford).
County Radiators in Basildon is another option but they are expensive.

Has anyone any experience of these companies and the standard of work?

And as a matter of interest, how does this job compare with removing a wing mirror tripod ???????

Err , well its in a completely different area.......

The main thing about getting it out is to be very careful not to scratch the matt balck paint either side.
Maybe use some carpet or gaffa tape to protect.
Apart from that its not difficult, a bit of a chinese puzzle but just take your time.

I agree Griffski, I have never done a mirror, but have been in the door more times than I care to remember.

Definately worth doing yourself...

Thanks Crackedfinger, I've just had a look and remebered that it's not easy getting the front up on the ramps! I need to do this so I get a tray or something underneath so I can drain the rad coolant before removing it!
Lots of water/coolant I pressume?

As antony says, its a much better location for the otter switch, this is where theyre normally found on most cars. The switch will not be affected by the heat from the manifolds, and also the temperature the switch reacts to is after the coolant has been cooled through the radiator, and is therefore what the engine receives, thus it is much better to switch on the fans, only when the coolant is too hot after its been through the rad.

Thanks and point taken, can anybody please email me a pic of the mod so I can show the recore company it's position.
