Just wondering if any Gallardo owners had the inside line on this?

I guess the closest that we'll get to DSG is the new gallardo powered Audi Lemans car

I was told that it wouldn't fit - wrong shape or too big.

Wouldn't want it...have you driven anything Audi with it on ??

Just seems to take forever on down changes compared to E Gear & feels really wooden.

Appreciate its harder wearing but the feeling of the Gearbox thumping in another gear instantaneously can't be rivalled.

A DSG box to take 500hp would be huge. There's absolutely no space in the Gallardo, it's a very tightly packaged car. The Gallardo's gearbox is behind the engine, which leaves even less space.
There's room on the Veyron because £1M buys you the best metal in the world which means the components can be smaller, although this gearbox is still big.
The Ricardo developed Veyron gearbox probably costs about the same as a Gallardo! Seriously. Half of the cost of that car will be engine and transmission!
