V8 Reliability.....?

I've had 3 breakdowns in my V8 in, what, 18 months of owning it... throttle cable snapped, fuel pump relay died and the alarm terminal corroded meaning I couldn't start the car with the doors shut.
This really surprised me. Thankfully the cars are not so old that everything is starting to tire out and not so new that everything has to be done by a garage. It's a car you can mostly work on yourself.

The main thing to look out for is the chassis, have it checked over thoroughly as this can be expensive to repair! Apart form that most other things are not too bad to fix/replace? I bought my car with no MOT, needing a new exhaust and rear screen, if you get it for the right price, then you will get most if not all your money back as the cars value should increase as these ar erare cars and hold their value very well.
In two and a half years, mine hasnt let me down either, apart from a few end of life items such as alternator, HT leads battery, CAM, coil etc... so its been very reliable and a joy to own, so much so that I aim to never sell it. For me, as a fun car for smiles per gallon, it just cannot be beat. For sure the newer TVR's in many ways are better cars, but with it comes less fun to drive, in my opinion.
