Sam,
'I have forgotten what a full Nardo spec "590" conversion costs, but it is very expensive, email me or send a message to info@ruf-automobile.de , and they will be more than happy to help.
Our car is the only 996 vin car, and there are a couple of conversions about. There are also no ruf dealers in the uk,
all the best

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have always been smitten with the cars RUF make.
So in theory one could pic up an early GT2 and with a RUF conversion have the full fat Nardo GT2 for something in the region of 95k? Is the engine completely rebuilt in this case?
Also how much does the RT12 retail at? (exchange rate dependent I assume)
Thanks
Sam

Been contemplating having the conversion done on my 993 turbo (to Turbo R spec). RUF told me that with an engine that has 65k kms (40k miles) they recommend doing the bottom end aswell, which they said would effecitively give me a new engine. Mine has about 46k on it.
1) New Heads
2) New Cams
3) New bearings in the bottom end
4) New turbos (assumed modified to hybrid spec)
5) New ECU (assumed it is just reprogrammed)
6) Extra oil cooler
7) 100 cell cats (not sure if anything else changes in exhaust)
8) A few other ancillary items
That lot comes to around 18k GBP.
Is it worth it? I've no idea, haven't made my mind up yet
Any advice, experiences welcome

GBP18K for that lot seems very reasonable - I know that a bottom end re-build alone is a 50hr job on a 996! I had a go in a CTR2 at Ruf and which was very nice indeed and the Turbo-R is not far behind in the smiles per mile department.
Do they usually have an example (Turbo R in this case) that can be test driven down there?
Well, I have a few things to thinks about. I'm sure that a conversion that includes RUF suspension etc would be the ideal but then the price starts heading even more skyward. However, I recently installed Bilstein HDs and am not sure if these would be suitable with the Turbo R upgrade.
