engine number

Hi,
no response on the Griffith forum so thought I'll try here. I can not locate the TVR engine number on the block - 94 Giffith 500 (found the LR number on the plinth next to where the dip stick enters engine block - but no TVR number). Nothing on the front of the block iether. Anyone know of any other location TVR stamped the block.

I'm not aware there is any other location. IIRC the number should start 38A denoting it is a customer engine and not for a Landrover etc

Thanks for the reply.
Having looked on the net a 38A appears to relate to a 3.5 82-87 SDI Rover. The LR number on my block begins with 48D which indicates a 4.6 94 - onwards, which fits with my car. I think I may have read some where that TVR stamped the back of the block with the number sometimes - probably difficult see with engine in the car though.
