Something good happened this morning.

I managed to start up the Griffith and drive it all the way down our lane, over the speed bumps and get to work without the engine stalling or generally playing silly sods.

This may not sound like much of an achievement, but when you consider I've rewired the car and fitted & mapped a new ECU in the last 2 months along with finding and fixing a load of age related failures, it's a major milestone. (All work was by me )

The idle is lumpy (not quite as good as with the Lucas ECU, but not far off) but I expect this to get better as I tweak the map in the coming weeks.

The big difference is in the smoothness under power - so much better than standard!

An oddity is that it now has much less engine braking. Not sure why unless the precat removal had something to do with it.

Generally, the car will achieve 5 to 10 mph (indicated) more terminal speed than it used to do on my tests. Will be nice to get it on a dyno sometime soon.

Will be good to get the ignition system working to complement the fuelling now!

Nice one David,im not surprised you feel chuffed,i'd be very proud.With you all the way on the smoothness improvement,my Griff is very different going up through the gears due to this

Sounds god Dave quite a feat I imagine re-wiring and putting in the new ecu and all the more better when it runs ok.
Must admit since MA re-mapped mine its pulled so much better and a hell of alot smoother, could believe the difference before and after

Do you have fuel cut on overrun? The 14CUX has, and this will increase the amount of engine braking.

I do have fuel cut for overrun. Currently set to >2000 RPM (I think) so may well be a little higher than the 14CUX.
